So eh. I'm using the character Mali from the short story I posted a few weeks ago and placing her in a different setting. This is the first bit of the story, but I want to post it to get feedback on how it looks so far. Feeling a bit iffy on the descriptive bits, but here it is, have at it.
“So you’re still going to Blue Corporation?”
“Yep.”
She tightened the laces on her boots.
“Have you really thought about what you’re doing, though?”
“Nope. No clue.”
He shook his head at her sarcasm.
“There are better ways to get the polymer. Putting your life in danger isn’t nece-”
”But the monks need it.”
”We can get by without it. It‘s a privilege, not a necessity.”
Mali shook her head.
”I‘m going.”
”Do you ever think about anyone but yourself? How would the children feel if you were killed? How would I feel?”
“Sssshhh.”
“What?”
“Can you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“Just listen!”

Writing.
I'm gonna have at least three heart attacks by the time I finish this story. This short story. What happens when I write a not short story.
The Mullet God
There are times in my life where out of the blue comes powerful inspiration. A vision of pure wonder, something that gives me hope for this poor, wretched world. This is one of those inspirations. Behold, for your viewing pleasure.
His mullet is sublime. Totally unexpected, like his shimmering green sequin shirt, but totally appreciated. I can barely convey how this makes me feel. Just...just watch the video yourself. I dare you not to be changed after it ends.
In all seriousness, he has a great voice but dudewtf.

[music]-Does it offend you, yeah?- The Monkeys are(is???) coming
A double serving of coolshit. You see the beginning of the video, the members of the band all performing their specific duties at the local FAILCO(now serving paper copies of The Josef Hartman Show, three screaming orphans a page) which is funny in how boring the job looks, then the sudden segue into their performance at some strange place, which so happens to be awesome even though only a few old guys who had no idea what was going on saw it. But what they saw was legendary hair flailing. Never forget.
Oh, the songs really good. Very We Are Rockstars but it has enough character to not be a complete rehash. 'matter of fact I like this song better then Rockstars.

Some guy who isn't me playing some Fight Night Champion(demoooooo). Apparently if you're a brit and preordered the game you get a code that allows you to get the demo early. As yo ucan see, this game looks quite good. Quite sexy in a nonsexual sense. Possibly the sexiest nonsexual thing I've ever seen that wasn't patapon-related. Everything looks so smooth, so fluid. The combinations just flow, punch to punch to punch, and when they land well, they look quite damaging. Only thing that seems out of place in the game are the punch sounds. Unless their gloves are actually cardboard boxes in disguise(which actually could be the case, cardboard boxes are sneaky little shits) the sound of a punch landing totally shouldn't sound like that. Or maybe it should and my ears have been lying to me all my life. The game looks really good, though.

This is the first draft of something I wrote off the top of my head. I'm trying to write with more feeling and less thought, as to make my writing a bit stronger. This needs a lot of work before it can actually become an acceptable piece, but this is my blog of doom and I can post whatever shit I want to. So, here it is.
The night was full of darkness and fear, something that made her feel welcome. She was used to the sights of swindlers courting their prey, gangsters jockeying for position amongst their ilk, the sense that at anytime, one could be taken advantage of, knocked out, later waking up naked, all possessions gone, or perhaps an even more sinister situation.

Ricardo Mayorga (at a news conference to promote his fight against Cotto):
"I will prove to everyone on March 12 that I am the man, and you are the woman. That belt you are holding, polish it up for me, because I will be taking it on March 12. Your hands are like a woman's. Look at my hands – they are man's hands. ... You came to Nicaragua and talked smack and told everyone I was a nobody. On March 12, all the Puerto Ricans are going to be wearing black for your wake. You will pay for what you said. This is the first time I will fight someone that is as small as a kid. I think my pants are taller than you. I see fear in your eyes. We have never crossed paths, but I have to tell you I have never liked you as a fighter."
He said i think my pants are taller then you. my pants. taller then you. I don't think you realize the level of genius you're dealing with right now.

graah
Things that have died off should stay dead. You can't let nostalgia trick you into thinking you can rekindle that old magic. It was special for a reason. It was spontaneous, not a deliberate process. It grew without being prodded, became great without any overt effort. It was amazing. Amazing things end though. We're left with those memories, though. Don't disrespect them by thinking you can just make it happen again. Don't trivialize greatness.

Look at these guys getting punched in the face
Looks sweet, eh? Of course it does. Shut up.
I don't have anything insightful to say about it, other then it looks like it's not totally horrible and that I'll prolly be getting it day of if I can(Depending on how the demo plays). So this post was semi useless. Go away.

Resolution
I plan to be as useless as I possibly can be. I've already cleared a space in my room for me to lay and fester in for the rest of my life, only rising to feed and use the bathroom. I think this will be a great experience.
also i want to finish a draft by the end of march. /ambition

Kingshit
I don't have a cause. This concerns me, as those who live without causes often become boring psuedo zombies who groan in low gravelly voices to and from work until they fall apart and die. Again. If someone asked me what my cause in life was, I'd prolly say "To create art", but that's such a flimsy basis to go by. You wanna make art? What kind of art? Art that makes people go "oooh that's pretty"? Art that shocks and challenges ideology? Art that really isn't art so much as it is a money grabbing scheme? Art that's pretentious as fuck and has no real value? What do you really want to create? I have the luxury of of being in the thawing spring of my youth, and also the additional luxury of knowing that the spring is only worth something it if you take advantage of it while its still here. I'm making a path, but sometimes I wonder how far it'll go.

[Music]-Mini Mansions(self titled)
Gaze upon the leather jackets of oblivion, and weep 1000 tears. Or 1. Whatever.
Harmonies, memorable instrumentation, nonsense lyrics. These are the things that make the Mini Mansion(s) go round. The music is powerful, without having much fire or fury. No pretense. There's only quality here. Easy to get lost within these sounds. What an amazing group, and an amazing album.
Their myspace page has a bit of their music there. Youtube only has low quality performance videos. They really don't convey their sound properly.

Some weird shit.
First spotted at Rosenburg Radio.
What is an Odd Future? Apparently a group of fucked out of their minds teenagers who like to rap. Surprisingly well.
There's a bunch of characters within this shit, but the only two I've really listened to at the moment are Earl Sweatshirt( Look up, you might see a song he made) and Tyler, The Creator(not sure if the comma is necessary but it gives the name a little more flair). They do have some features from people who I assume are a part of the group as well, but none of them hold a candle to these two.
Earl is fantastic with internal rhyme, which, when combined with the sadistic nature his lyrics take, gives his music this sense of dark intricacy. Entertaining son of bitch.
Tyler's a step below Earl in terms of pure lyricism, but he's still pretty dope. He's just as bizarre and twisted as Earl is, and his voice gives his music a little more ferocity. He also seems to be the main producer for the group.
Like I said before, I know jack shit about the rest of the guys in the group, but I'm gonna assume their projects aren't as gripping as Earl and Tyler's. I'll write more about Odd Future once I've listened to more shit. While you patiently wait another month or so to read that, go to their blog and download their music.

[Music]-Only Built for Cuban Linx Niggas
Let's take a diversion from the usual fare here and talk about one of my favorite albums ever.
Raekwon and Ghostface, arguably the greatest tandem in the history of rap music, take you through a crime epic, the "mafioso"rap album to end all others.
It's not the typical hyperviolent, kill every man standing ever tripe. Cuban Linx is gritty, detailed. The pictures painted are vivid, the rhymes sharp. The various capers described don't feel forced or contrived. It's beautiful poetry, with out the annoying fluff and pomp.
And, as with all of the first round Wu Tang albums, the production(delivered by the legendary RZA) is epic. Nothing compares. The way the iconic boom bap sound is blended with the haunting samples is just...perfection. Nothing else to say here, just listen to the music.
"Julio Inglesias...getting cream like that nigga.."

Little pain
Love dwelled in that place from time to time, but it was largely drowned out by the anger. Anger prevailed because it was easier to yell and point fingers then to forgive and move on. There were periods were the strife grew so powerful it threatened to rip them apart. The lulls of love between the storms were enough to keep them together, at least for the moment. But she saw something over the horizon...paradise?
Enough semidepression
Here's a bit of something I wrote, maybe I'll finish it and it'll become published....!
In the depths of darkness, she heard a voice.
"Breathe."
An action so simple seemed so foreign to her, so complex. She attempted to draw air into her lungs, but there was none there. She felt the sharp pains of asphyxiation accumulating, along with panic.
"Not literally, dumbass. We went over this."
She opened her eyes, staring into a void. Air suddenly filled her lungs. She exhaled.
"I don't see my soul..." she said softly.
"You haven't brought it into reality yet. Draw it out of the void."
"Simple."
She held out her hand and made a fist, as if she were grabbing something. A small light appeared in front of her. She focused on it. Lights began appearing in the darkness, dotting like stars but eventually becoming a large glowing orb. She released her fist, letting her arm drop to her side.
"Good." said the voice. "Stay focused. If you screw up...eh. Let's not talk about that. Let's start compounding."
She drifted forward, entering the light. Within the orb was a mass of symbols that constantly shifted and changed, merging with each other and splitting away. Confusing to those uninitiated, but she understood what was happening.
"Slow it down." said the voice.
She closed her eyes, and imagined herself sitting amongst a garden of flowers in radiant sunlight. The symbols froze.
"Find your seal."
She drifted through the symbols, moving them aside until she found a heart shaped symbol. She grabbed it gently with both hands.
"Clear space."
The symbols all gathered around the wall of the orb, giving her a wide berth.
"Now..release it."
She let go of the seal.
"Careful."
"You're making me nervous."
"Sorry."
She breathed deeply, and as the air filled her lungs, her eyes matched the dull pink glow that emanated from the seal.
"Open."
The seal exploded. A rush of energy so intense it knocked her backwards. She screamed out in pain.
"Control it!"
The image of her amongst flowers came to mind, and the rush of energy began to lessen.
"That's it."
The energy still shifted around violently.
"Why is it still acting up?" she said to herself.
"You're still nervous. It's reflective of your current mindstate."
"Right..calm.."
The energy contorted into a sphere.
"Good," said the voice. "Get a component."
She held out a hand, prompting one of the symbols to quickly fly into her grasp. She released the energy, not nearly as intense as the energy from her seal, the coloration grey. She held the component over the seal energy and caused a thin thread to slowly extend from the component until it connected to the seal energy. The pink glow of the seal climbed up the thread onto the component and enveloped it whole. A heart appeared on the center of the component.
"It's connected now." said the voice.
"What now?"
"Come out of the dream, we'll see if you can tap into the component."
In the depths of darkness, she heard a voice.

I'm quite content with this at the moment. Decent opener.
